How it works
|
- Imagine this beautiful sculpture in front of a window, radiating a cathedral-esque display of colours through its jewel-like segments. And, even if the sun persists in evading us, it is, quite simply, a stunning piece that speaks for itself.
- Measuring 36 x 36 x 14 cm, this limited edition sculpture is one of only 12, making it eminently collectable. The fact that it is by Johannes Von Stumm, internationally exhibited sculptor and fellow of the British Society of Sculptors, helps too.
- Von Strumm grew up in the foothills of the Alps into a family history of blacksmiths and steel factories. No surprise, then, that the opposing media of steel, ice and rock dominate his extraordinary, physics-defying sculptures.
- Opposition is key to Von Stumm's work and is much in evidence in Disk II. The combination of the fragile glass with the strength of the shape gives the sculpture great energy; while its robust physicality powerfully combines with a deep spirituality, when light pours through its kaleidoscopic chambers.
- More importantly, before I get too Brian Sewell, it reminds me of Fruit Polos - a sad loss to confectionary - which can't be a bad thing.

Lot Definition: This Lot is for an original limited edition sculpture (1 of 12) by Johannes Von Stumm entitled 'Disk II' (as pictured above)
Included: -'Disk II' (what more can we say?)
Not included: -Plinth, display or anything additional to the sculpture itself. -Delivery is not included and costs depend on location and weight, due to the careful packaging that is necessary.
General: -Each glass piece is individually hand-crafted and polished. Production is bespoke and done slowly. As a result, a wait of approximately 8 weeks is not unusual for a Von Stumm.
N.B. There is a Secret Price above which all bids for this
